Ilya received his Bachelors Degree in Piano performance and Pedagogy from the College of the Moscow State Conservatory of P.Tchaikovsky (Russia) and completed his Masters Degree at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montreal, winning the highest distinction for his final performance.


A winner of many Competitions and Festivals, Ilya was also awarded the Montreal Conservatory Foundation Grant for excellent achievements (2012-2013).

In his 2012 concert season Ilya performed the Second Piano Concerto by S.Rachmaninov under the direction of well-known Canadian conductor Louis Lavigueur, to great acclaim.


Ilya leads an active concert life, performing in many countries as a part of the Fedorova & Takser Piano Duo, in different chamber groups and as a solo performer.


Not only a brilliant performer, Ilya is also a highly qualified piano teacher. During his studies in Moscow Ilya received the highest distinction on juried final exams for Foundations of Psychology and Pedagogy.


Ilya Takser's teaching philosophy and performing experience helps his students meet their goals in learning piano and winning prizes for Competitions and Festivals.
